HIGH RESOLUTION ULTRASOUND SCANS

One of the best ways to safely and painlessly peer inside the human body is to use high resolution ultrasound. Ultrasound scans can help diagnose a wide variety of medical conditions by providing high-quality images for your physician to study. At Middletown Medical Imaging, our expert staff is trained and knowledgeable about the latest in high resolution ultrasound techniques.

We are the area’s leaders in diagnostic imaging, and our high resolution ultrasound scans are favored by a range of local physicians. The procedure is simple. Using our state of the art Siemens ACUSON X300 ultrasound system, we can get a clear view of what’s happening inside your body. The ultrasound system emits high frequency sound waves using an instrument called a transducer. The echoes from the high frequency sounds bounce back to the device, determining the size, shape, and consistency of organs and soft tissues inside the patient.

This system allows physicians to study conditions of the abdomen, heart, breast, liver, spleen, bladder, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, ovaries, uterus, thyroid, testicles, and more. Our accreditation from the ACR (American College of Radiology) in Ultrasound ensures our outstanding commitment to top quality high resolution ultrasound imaging.

The ultrasound capabilities at Maternal-Fetal Specialists are of the highest quality as indicated by our AIUM (American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine) certification. Our equipment is the most technologically advanced and our credentialed staff has extensive experience and training. In order to provide this level of service to all patients, it is essential to follow policies that will ensure safety and proper equipment operation .

MUSCULOSKELETAL ULTRASOUND
  • High-resolution ultrasound.
  • Color and spectral Doppler studies.
  • Fetal biophysical profiles.
  • Fetal echocardiography.
  • Nuchal translucency certifcation.
  • No Children in Ultrasound Rooms .

Our policy is that children are not allowed in ultrasound rooms. We ask that if you are coming for an ultrasound examination, please bring a friend or family member to supervise your child during this part of your visit. Our policy is based on both safety and cost concerns. As we all know, children can move fast and get into things. With all the buttons, knobs, whistles and attached gadgets, an ultrasound machine is an attractive distraction for children, who otherwise view mommy's doctor visit as a rather boring event. Ultrasound equipment is very heavy but portable and could roll over small fingers and toes. In addition, the ultrasound machines in our offices are costly to replace.

VIDEOTAPING ULTRASOUNDS

We do not routinely videotape ultrasounds nor do we allow video recording of any procedures. While we have the capability to record ultrasound examinations, videotaping is at the discretion of the physician. For routine pregnancy scans at 18-20 weeks, you may want to bring a VHS format tape with you if videotaping is an option. However, please do not be disappointed if videotaping is not an option.
